Course Description
Revised in 2024, this Child Care Foundational Training provides foundational knowledge and skills training for individuals as they begin, or consider, a career in caring for children. Content includes exploring a variety of early care and education settings, including group and family child care. Learners explore rules and regulations governing group and family child care and the responsibilities of early care and education professionals. Practices and strategies will be explored to reflect the diverse needs of children and families in Wisconsin. This course fulfills introductory noncredit course requirements as specified in the Department of Children and Families (DCF) Chapters 202, 250, and 251 for Family and Group Child Care in Wisconsin’s Administrative Code. SIDS, Child Abuse and Neglect, and Abusive Head Trauma training will also be addressed within this course.

Training Details and Requirements
• This 50-hour course (15 in virtual meetings and 35 web-based) is being offered in a blended format, which means there will be a mix of Zoom training meetings and web-based work. In addition to Zoom meetings with your instructor, work will be assigned and completed on an online Learning Management System (LMS).
• Participants must attend every virtual meeting date and complete all assigned web-based work with an 80% grade or higher by Thursday, May 15, 2025to successfully complete the course and earn Registry credit.
• Participants must have a computer, laptop, or tablet and reliable internet access to complete the web-based work and join the virtual meetings.
Registered participants will receive a welcome email with more information about the course on Thursday, February 13, 2025. This welcome email will also help you gain access to the web-based work on the LMS. If registering after the course opens, please allow 24-48 hours before a course welcome email is sent to you. Be sure to check your spam/junk folders if you have not received any email communication.
