Conference Workshop Descriptions

Make n’ Take – Presented by Tracy Jensen – Program Coordinator at Sunny Day Child Care and Rhonda Melby – Director at Sunny Day Child Care

  • Gingerbread Make-N-Take: In this workshop teachers will be introduced to some fun and creative ways to use the Gingerbread Theme in their classroom. Concepts and activities will hit on all five WMELS domains.

Developmental Screening – Presented by Sarah Talbot – Statewide Implementation Coordinator and Resource Navigator with Help Me Grow

  • Screening young children is an effective, efficient way for professionals to check a child’s development, help parents celebrate their child’s milestones and know what to look for next, and determine whether follow-up steps are needed. It’s also an essential first step toward identifying children with delays or disorders in the critical early years, before they start school.

Outdoor Play on a Winter Day – Presented by Sara Fink – A Child’s Haven Family Child Care

  • Winter in Wisconsin can be a challenge. The weather will soon be changing and it will be cold outside! You either love winter or you don’t. Let’s remind ourselves of the value and benefits of going outside and prepare for a season full of exciting experiences. Despite how you feel about winter in Wisconsin, I hope to help you get excited about outdoor play on a winter day.
