This virtual Domestic Violence 101 course will provide an introductory overview of the nuanced & cyclical nature of domestic violence and its impact upon children as primary & secondary victims of abuse. Understand the effects of domestic violence on children as we introduce the topic of ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences), discuss the realities of generational violence within families, and learn how to support & respond to children who have experienced trauma in the home as a result of DV.

Learning Objectives

  • Gain an understanding of the effects of domestic violence in the home on children
  • Increase ability to respond to & support children as primary or secondary victims of domestic violence
  • Increase knowledge of community resources & supports available to children as victims of domestic violence

Meet the Presenter

Erin Quesnell is a trainer and presenter for Harbor House Domestic Abuse Programs, located in Appleton, WI. Harbor House serves victim-survivors of domestic violence, and in her role as Community Education Specialist, Erin seeks to help those in our community gain a deeper understanding of the impact of domestic violence on both individual & collective levels within our society.
