Description

The training intends to heighten awareness of the impact of trauma in ourselves and others around us. It gives strategies in working with children of different ages and adults who have experienced or are currently experiencing trauma. The training clarifies the physical and psychological damage caused by trauma to the developing brain (in-utero to adult brain differences). Strategies are given to support those who have or are currently suffering from trauma.

Learning Objectives

In this training, participants will:

  • Learn about what trauma is & how trauma impacts the brain, child development and life functioning
  • Hear about the National Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) Study 
  • Understand how trauma and toxic stress affects children, adults, and caregivers 
  • Identify strategies for applying trauma informed care into daily practices and discuss how to address and prevent secondary traumatic stress
