Join CCR&R and guest speaker Katie Hamm, Consultant with Diverse & Resilient, for a two hour presentation on how child care directors, program administrators, and child care leadership team members can be more diverse and inclusive within their child care programs. Participants will learn concepts and terminology related to sexual orientation, review early childhood gender identity development, and discuss the gender spectrum and learn to distinguish sex assignment from gender identity and expression. Additionally, information will be shared about the Wisconsin Youth Risk Behavior Survey and the data it reveals. Participants will identify basic strategies for creating a safe, culturally competent, and welcoming environments for LGBTQ adults and children, and understand the developmental impact of bias on LGBTQ adults and children using the Minority Stress Theory Framework.
